Coffee strip harvesting is another method of harvesting coffee berries that farmers do not want to use heavy harvesting machines. Strip harvesting is often used in areas where coffee is grown on steep hillsides or in other difficult terrain.
Farmers are using manual strip harvesting or mechanical strip harvesting to pick a big group of coffee berries from coffee tree, and they will selectively pick up the ripe coffee berries. Strip harvesting is an economical way for collecting coffee berries, so the cost of coffee beans can be reduced due to low labor costs. However, the way of strip harvesting will also collect unripe coffee berries as by coffee harvesting machines, so a part of unripe coffee berries will be wasted.
