Top two coffee beans producer: Brazil coffee vs Vietnam coffee

Brazil and Vietnam are actually having their unique coffee beans. Brazil is particularly well-known for its high-quality Arabica coffee beans. Brazilian coffee is often characterized by its mild, nutty flavor and low acidity. According to USDA, Brazil also produces around one third of Robusta coffee beans as shown in below chart.

Vietnam is the second largest coffee producer. However, opposite to Brazil, Vietnam is mainly producing Robusta coffee beans (Around 90% of Vietnamese coffee beans, referring to USDA), and it could be caused due to below 800m altitude. Vietnamese coffee is often characterized by its bold, earthy flavor and high caffeine content for espresso coffee. Less than 10% of Vietnamese coffee is Arabica coffee beans.

Both Brazil and Vietnam produce a wide range of coffee beans, covering the largest segment of Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, so we cannot really identify the type of coffee beans by production country. Moreover, the specific taste and characteristics can vary depending on the region, altitude, and growing conditions. Although there is a hint that Brazilian coffee is generally considered to be of higher quality and is often used in specialty coffee blends and single-origin coffees, while Vietnamese coffee is often used in blends or for instant coffee, consumers still need identify what they purchased from sellers.
